Victoria Events for June 2010 Monthly Summary

Welcome to our Monthly Update this is our regular update out on the first of the month with the highlights of the upcoming month. June sees Victoria Day Weekend behind us and school holidays rapidly approaching. The great events just keep on coming.

The big event for this month will be the Naval Fleet Review June 9-14. This will have navies from all around the Pacific and Indian oceans sending ship to participate. So the sailors (about 8,000 of them) will be all around the capital region. Friday (11th) will see a parade in downtown Victoria and the day will conclude with a Fireworks display over the anchorage at Royal Roads. The main event is the review of the ships on Saturday (12th) followed by a flypast, the Skyhawks Parachute team, and an airshow by the Snowbirds. Esquimalt will be celebrating Buccaneer Days the same weekend.

The rest of the month will see major community events all over the region. The 48th Oak Bay Tea Party will happen the weekend before on the 5 and 6th. As already mentioned Buccaneer Days happens on the 12 and 13th. Then Sooke and Fernwood will have their turns with the Sooke Bluegrass Festival (18-20th) and Fernfest (19th). The Afro-Carib Carnival rounds out the events for Father’s Day Weekend.

The end of the month adds JazzFest and Victoria Pride events.

So the weather is better, the kids are almost out of school and the weekend are full of family friendly events around Greater Victoria. Have Fun!
